Our story
The lush valley of Sóller, the "Vall de Sóller”, has all the charms one could wish for in this life: tranquillity, silence and a mild climate with a warm and sweet breeze. In the "Vall d'Or" (the valley of gold, so called by the Arabs), set between the mountains and the sea, orange and lemon groves are abundant.
These produce citrus fruits which are recognized as the best on the island and appreciated all over the world. Can Pusteta, or Cas Xocolater, began as an orchard, as a rural farm, on the land of which a house was built at the end of the 19th century, in the typical and traditional style of the valley of Sóller.
In honour to his wife, Catalina Joy Sader, in 1910 he founded the company “Xocolates Joy”, which was the origin of the name given to the estate: Cas Xocolater.
The estate was first inherited by Paula Colom Joy, and later by the illustrious son of Sóller, Antoni Josep Rullan Colom, who introduced the varieties of oranges that Mallorca knows today: canoneta 1, canoneta 2, navel, navelate, navelina, cul d'ou, sanguines, alberla y peret.
In addition to the orchard of approximately 5000 m2, within the estate we find a traditional mallorcan country house of 500 m2, with an important hydraulic complex composed of a traditional water mill and a cistern. In the house, totally reformed, we can find 5 bedrooms, a dining room, a kitchen,...
